If properly cared for, your knife will last a lifetime. Here are some guidelines for care and maintenance.

  • Store your knife in a block or sheath for safety.
  • Wash with warm soapy water, rinse and dry.
  • Like all handcrafted knives, do not put it in a dishwasher.
  • Do not place your knife in an oven and avoid high heat. As this can weaken the structure of the steel.
  • Do not strike the knife with another metal object or with another object
  • Avoid dropping your knife on to hard surfaces such as sinks, concrete or tile floors.
  • Sharpen your knife with an oil or water stone and hone with a strop for razor sharpness.
  • This knife is made of high carbon steel which means that it will hold an edge better than stainless steels.
  • The blade is subject to rust. Some basic maintenance is required to ensure it lasts generations. Keep it dry.
  • If you cut something acidic, tomato, onion, citrus, wipe it dry, and wash it as soon as possible.
  • If the knife will sit unused for a long time, coat it with a thin layer of food grade oil.
  • Always wipe your knife dry after each use.
  • Wash in warm soapy water and dry. Do not allow to air-dry.
  • Store your knife in a block or sheath for safety.
  • There is no such thing as a dishwasher safe knife.

The handle of your knife is made of an acrylic resin. It is very durable, but not indestructible. Do not subject the handle to excessive heat, direct flame, acidic or caustic solutions or long-term submersion in liquid.

This knife is warrantied for life for any manufacturing defects. It is not warranted for any misuse and lack of proper care. If the blade fails it must be returned to the maker for an analysis on the point of failure, or the warranty will not be honored.
